Ara's Tale

Three years in the making, Martin Lubich has finally released his short film "Ara's Tale" - an impressive solo effort, especially for a project done during spare time and in Blender nonetheless :)

Overall, a beautiful film. Kudos to the sound and music team too for their great work, which takes this to the next level indeed.

If I had to nitpick, some of the animation in places looked a bit stiff and robotic (in particular, the dragon's wing flapping, and Ara's torso at times). However, there were also moments that more than made up for this. In particular, I thought the subtle facial expression acting was very well done. And that's not to mention all the scenes where some cloth/hair sim wrangling needed to take place.

  1. Thanks a lot for your coverage here. I feel honored.

The animation is one of the weak points here. It helped a lot to cover some of the flaws with her dress :)
Unfortunately I couldn't put a dress on the dragon ;)

  2. I have overlooked this project. It does seem to me a great achievement. Congratulations to Martin for such a dedicated effort.

If I had to be nitpicking, I would work a bit on dragon's fly, and give her a few more curves ;) but you know, we all have a taste on women :D
