Earlier this evening, I came across the following video on Facebook of a 1950's vintage architect's drafting desk - apparently manufactured by "Nike Eskilstuna" from Sweden.

Wow! This is so freaking awesome! TBH, if I had the floorspace, I'd probably get one for my office-space / living room, especially if I got hold of one with wheels for easier moving! 😍
Things to like about it:
✅ Height adjustable
✅ 360 degree turnable around central pillar
✅ Goes from flat to steeply angled
✅ Comes with builtin "Luxo" style lamp, AND a fancy ruler/set square arm (i.e. only our graphics teachers got to use those!)
✅ Also has a pen/pencil holder tray
✅ Solid wood bench top
✅ I've always rather liked "architect" stuff / equipment it seems...
I think it therefore wouldn't be too much of a surprise to say that at one point, say for a good 5-6 years, I was "very strongly" considering becoming an architect LOL 😂
The only tempering factors:
1) I never really got to work on such a project for my class portfolios
2) Back then, prospects for doing the kind of large-scale fancy public buildings locally (which I was most interested in doing) were bleak! Little did I expect city-levelling quakes soon after!
It seemed most here only did house extensions 🙄
The other more major factor of course was:
Getting to go to town on Blender / Computer Animation Software Development!
Compared to being an architect, I could have an immediate impact, and the only real limit was my own skill + ability to pull off whatever complex technical design I dreamed up! (Oh, and as I had a "day" life... all this had to happen under some tighter time constraints - e.g. over a weekend, or during a 2 week "coding holiday" as my mentor used to famously do) 😂
