9/11

As you'll probably have heard in the news already, today is the one-decade-on anniversary of the terrorist attacks in America on September 11, 2001.

10 years later, this event has changed the world:
  • "Terrorist" and "Terrorism" are big buzzwords that crop up whenever state leaders meet and/or large events take place, whereas they were hardly (or perhaps I just wasn't aware at the time) any mention of this before this time
  • All air travellers are now treated as guilty until proven innocent, with thorough scanning and increasingly absurd restrictions on what can be taken on a flight. Airports are also less people friendly as a result in quite a few ways.
  • "Bin Laden" became a household name, top of the wanted list, and finally floating in the depths of the deep blue sea
  • The "War on Terror" was launched, and to this day still hasn't concluded, spanning 2 countries, and probably contributing a large amount to the current to American debt
What a brave new world...
