What a week!

It's Friday at last! What a week it's been!

The carpark outside the department after dark. Today was the second time in as many weeks that I've been busy working till after dark on a Friday. It's interesting how things that seem so familiar during daytime take on this whole other character after dark. Pity though that I've only had been carrying crappy-cam on the days that I happen to end up getting to see this stuff.

This week has been pretty crazy, with a bunch of deadlines lined up at the end of the weekend like a bad nightmare. Still so much to do, and not enough time to do it all! But, at least I managed to get one deadline sorted today, and am on nearly on track again to get another one finished up on time as well. So that's kindof good.

Meanwhile in Amsterdam, the Mango team have been having a jolly good time filming...

It's been really interesting watching the process unfold via the live streams they've been running. For example, how actors spend a lot of time on set just standing there in position for perhaps hours on end while the lighting gets adjusted (or many pieces of equipment need to be moved around over the course of half and hour a change... no mean feat considering the number of cables just running all over the place), and sometimes spending the entire day just repeating the same line(s) again and again (though, if you think about it, animators probably look at the same few seconds of footage again and again for several weeks on end, day in day out, looking for the smallest "lack of twitch").

The "rehearsals..... sound... camera... clap!... aaand ac-tion!   ..... cut!" routine began to take on a bit of a rhythm after a while. And then, sometimes between takes, interesting stuff would still happen. It was quite entertaining watching Rogier Schippers rehearsing/acting/staying in character (?) between takes; indeed, IMO sometimes those looked even better than the ones during the official takes.

Anyways, enough rambling for now. Got to get back to finishing off some last-minute hacking and report writing that needs to be done. When I get time, I'll also try to do a write up of the little hack-fest I had last weekend for a bit of a change/motivation. Until then, laters!
